Breast Augmentation Turkey – FAQ
Breast augmentation Turkey – FAQ: The cosmetic surgeons in Turkey respond to your wishes and discuss every aspect in detail in a consultation.
When do the implants need to be replaced?
Modern Mentor implants do not wear out and usually last a lifetime. For aesthetic reasons, however, implants should be replaced when the shape of the breast changes due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, severe weight loss, surgery related to illness, or simply the natural aging process.
Follow-up care and behavior after breast augmentation
At the end of the procedure, the patient feels pain. Especially when the prosthesis is placed behind the pectoral muscle and during certain movements. It is advisable to use painkillers or cold packs to relieve the pain. The breast remains swollen for 15-20 days and tender for several weeks. There may be bruising, especially around the scar, which will disappear over the next month.
The day after the operation, the support bandage is removed and, in most cases, the drainage tube, through which the residual discharge from the wound drains, is removed. Breast augmentation in Turkey / Antalya is considered complete when the body’s own connective tissue has formed around the implant and the incision has closed well. These processes take several weeks. Several follow-up visits will be performed during this period to monitor the healing process. We first carry out this in our clinic and after your return home, a local doctor can continue to look after you. However, we are still available if you have any questions.
Incapacity for work varies depending on the procedure, but is usually between a few days and two weeks. The doctor will estimate this time at the first consultation.
What should I do after breast augmentation?
In the first few weeks after the operation, the patient should avoid pressure on the breasts. She should wear a special sports bra for six weeks. Avoid intense physical exertion, carrying heavy loads and going to the sauna. Direct sunlight on the breasts is detrimental to the healing process. In the first few weeks after the operation, it is recommended to only sleep on your back to avoid pressure on the breasts.
How long after breast augmentation can I think about pregnancy again?
Despite the minimally invasive surgical procedures, breast augmentation is always associated with stress. It is therefore advisable to postpone a (re)pregnancy for a period of at least three months so that the body’s own connective tissue can strengthen around the implant used and the surgical wound can heal.
A breast augmentation does not affect the ability to breastfeed. The risk of damaging the glandular tissue is lowest when the procedure is performed on the inside of the breast. Women are therefore recommended to inform their doctor about a planned pregnancy before the procedure.

Important questions about breast augmentation Turkey
What happens if the implants need to be replaced?
The most common complication that can occur after breast implant surgery is capsular contracture. It occurs in 4-8% of operations. It leads to excessive formation of connective tissue around the implants and hardening of the breast. There is no health risk, but the pain and tenderness in the breasts can be uncomfortable. The shape of the breasts can also be altered by stiff connective tissue, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or age-related loosening of the connective tissue. In these cases, the implant can be replaced and the breast reshaped.
Does breast augmentation affect cancer risk?
Breast augmentation does not affect the risk of developing breast cancer. The recommended breast cancer screenings can be performed safely; the implants do not affect the results of mammograms. During screening, the breasts are subjected to intense pressure, which increases the risk of the implant’s outer shell rupturing. Since modern silicone implants do not contain any liquid, it is impossible for the silicone gel to leak into the surrounding tissue. Although saline implants that are rarely used carry the risk of leaking fluid, it is easy for the body to excrete.
What are the recommendations for the time after breast surgery?
Showering is prohibited until the wounds have completely healed, i.e. H. in the first two weeks after the operation. Bathing is prohibited for four weeks.
A bra fitted to the new breasts with a band needs to be worn day and night for a month.
All normal daily activities are allowed, with the exception of carrying heavy loads and sudden movements (housework, sports, etc.).
After a month, after a few days of rest, you can resume sports and work.
Avoid exposing the scars directly to the sun.
Do not take any medication containing aspirin.
Avoid driving for too long.
What complications can occur with breast augmentation?
When the surgery is performed by a qualified and competent plastic surgeon, the risks are limited. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are risks and complications associated with the anesthesia, the procedure itself, and the implants.
Possible side effects are:
Formation of hematomas and an effusion
Infections or necrosis of the skin
Wound healing disorders
Sensitivity changes: Frequent in the first few months, later tending to decrease
Other rare complications are: Wrinkling or rippling: Because the prostheses are flexible, it is possible for the covering to fold. The folds can be visible or felt under the skin, especially in thin people with few glands, displacement or incorrect positioning of the prosthesis, fracture of the prosthesis, rotation of the prosthesis (felt in the case of an anatomical implant), formation of a rigid shell around the prosthesis (some years after surgery).
